Data Protection Statement 

Balance Summer Camp processes personal data relating to its camp goers for administrative and other purposes necessary for the management and functioning of the summer camp. Primarily, the camp processes your child’s personal data during the course of your application, admission and registration, for medical purposes, health and safety, contacting parents, organising camp excursions, emergency situations and fee collection.

Balance Summer Camp also processes your personal data for the following purposes:

  • SMS text messaging system: The summer camp operates an SMS text messaging system which gives camp coordinators the option to communicate with parents/ guardians quickly and effectively. When your child is registered with the camp, you will be automatically added to the list to receive texts regarding Balance related information. This information can include summer camp activities and various events throughout the year such as the St. Patricks’ Day parade, Chapel Gate Café Coffee Morning, etc;

  • To support your child while they are attending the summer camp;

  • Photographs/ videos recordings of events: The camp coordinators may take group photographs and video recordings of the camp goers during summer camp events/ excursions. Such images/ recordings may include individual or group shots which may be published or included on the Balance website and/ or Balance social media. All photos/videos will be approved by camp coordinators;

  • To manage insurance/ personal accident claims;

  • To communicate with you where necessary and to provide communications about Balance news and events;

  • To maintain a suitable environment for your child;

  • To meet health and safety obligations.


All information provided by parents/ guardians will be stored for 18 months from application date. After this time, it will be shredded and disposed of appropriately. This information will be used for the duration of camp and to notify parents of the social events throughout the year, such as St. Patricks’ Day parade, Chapel Gate Café Coffee Morning, etc. Please let us know if you no longer wish to receive information from the Balance team.

The information will be stored in the following locations:

  •  In a secure cabinet in Balance headquarters (throughout the 18 months);

  •  In a secure cabinet in Our Lady Counsel School (throughout the 5 weeks of summer camp);

  • Parent/ guardian phone numbers in Balance Summer Camp phone (until parents ask to unsubscribe to messages);

  • Health and safety (medical information) list stored on email which will only be available to camp coordinators during 5 weeks of camp;

  • Photos/ videos uploaded on website www.balancesummercamp.ie , Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

Staff/ Volunteer Data Protection Statement

Primarily, the camp processes your personal data during the course of your application, interviews and employment/ volunteership at camp.


Balance Summer Camp also processes your personal data for the following purposes:

  •  SMS text messaging system: The summer camp operates an SMS text messaging system which gives camp coordinators the option to communicate with you quickly and effectively. If you work for/ volunteer with the camp, you will be automatically added to the list to receive texts regarding Balance related information. This information can include summer camp activities and various events throughout the year such as the St. Patricks’ Day parade, Chapel Gate Café Coffee Morning, etc;

  • Photographs/ videos recordings of events: The camp coordinators may take group photographs and video recordings of the camp goers during summer camp events/ excursions. Such images/ recordings may include individual or group shots which may be published or included on the Balance website and/ or Balance social media.
